What Is CrossFit?

Do your friends and family know why you are Ninjas?

Other than the obvious parallels with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (we do spend a lot of time below ground, after all), we idolize ninjas because of their expertise in movement. Ninjas are known for their stealth (jumping building to building in a style to make any gymnast swoon) and mastery of tools (one could compare swordsmanship to barbell technique), all while staying calm and controlled (sounds like they’ve got some pretty good conditioning).

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be exploring CrossFit by breaking it down into its bare components:

  • Functional Movement
  • Olympic Weightlifting
  • Conditioning (Metcons!)
  • Scaling
  • Community
  • Competition

Here’s where you come in. What do you want to see me post about? Which aspect of CrossFit needs more love on our blog? Sound off and let me know by posting a comment below!

Metabolic Conditioning hands down for me. As the other stuff is already well covered in other places.

Before I get into anything, I want a poster of the pyramid ASAP! Excellent work coach on the breakdown. For me…is nutrition. Everything else I’m learning while applying myself to be good at.

I think one of the most difficult things i have encountered since i have started crossfit is building good eating habits. There is a lot of information out there regarding what is good for the body but with all this info it can leave you dazed and still asking WHAT IS GOOD FOR MY BODY?! Any direction you can point us in, whether that be reading or implementing changes would be a great help! Thanks Bo Bo!! :)
